Overview

Since 1985, Omnirax has been a leader in the evolution of ergonomic Technical Furniture. In our early years of designing and building recording studio furniture, we were challenged to develop solutions for applications that required accommodating an ever increasing volume of equipment competing for the prize, but limited, “real estate” located between the knees and the eyes. We pioneered adjustable shelving, moving monitor bridges and more.

We›ve continued to embrace advances in technology as they›ve become available. With the advent of LCD monitors several years ago, we began a partnership with Innovative Office Products and have incorporated their line of adjustable monitor mounts into our ergonomic solutions.

Today, we know that flexible height-adjustable furniture provides advantages beyond accommodating different size people. Research has clearly demonstrated the health benefits of working while standing, as opposed to sitting all day. People who work standing up are healthier, happier and more productive.

Over the last year, we have made a thorough search of available “sit to stand” mechanisms and are now happy and proud to introduce our new line of height- adjustable desks and workstations with frames made by Conset.

This robust system is of European design and is manufactured in Asia. The quality of this mechanical hardware adheres to our philosophy of providing well designed, rugged furniture at a price people can afford.

At the entry level, we are re-selling some complete ConSet systems at very aggressive prices. We believe that once there is more market penetration of height-adjustable furniture, prices will come down even further. In addition to these simple desks, we have incorporated elements of our popular Force series of workstations and coupled them with several larger Conset frames to provide a versatile selection of products for a wide variety of applications.

The eDesk is a stylish, lightweight, affordable electric desk available in two widths. The eDesk HD uses a heavy-duty frame for larger gear loads, also available in 2 widths. Both adjust from sitting to standing position at the touch of a button.

Why Electric Height Adjustable Work Surfaces (EHAWS) Make For Good Business

Cornell University›s Human Factors and Ergonomic Research Laboratory carefully studied the role that EHAWS play in musculoskeletal discomfort and productivity in the work environment. According to this and other cited studies:

• Results show significant decreases in the severity of musculoskeletal discomfort for most upper body regions.

Versa SS1 Series

The Versa SS1 Series of electric height adjustable workstations are ergonomic, elegant, and expansive. They are ideal for video / audio editing, monitoring traffic, forensic video & CSI applications, security, surveillance, handling dispatch, 911/emergency calls, or other communication center production needs. The heavy duty steel frame includes a transverse support / modesty panel. The frame uses a Bosch motor with 330 lbs. synchronized lift capacity. This means that the desk is always 100% level and the frame can lift 330 lbs. no matter where the weight is placed. The height is adjustable to any height between 26" and 48-1/2". The frame is available in powder coated Black (RAL 9004) or Silver (RAL 9006). The desktop is 1-1/8" thick and is finished in Pewter Brush or Black high-pressure laminate with heavy duty T-molding for great looking durability.

Weight Loss

A team of scientists at the University of Missouri found that the enzymes that are responsible for burning fat just shut down when we sit. Standing up while working helps to reduce weight.

The latest scientific findings from the US suggest that an intense workout in the gym is actually less effective than gentle exercise in terms of weight loss. Barry Braun, associate professor of kinesiology at the University of Massachusetts, says that the evidence emerging from his research team shows that moderate exercise such as “low-intensity ambulation” (i.e. walking) may help to burn calories “without triggering a caloric compensation effect” – i.e. without making you reach for a snack the moment you're done. In one experiment, Braun showed that simply standing up instead of sitting used up hundreds more calories a day without increasing appetite hormones in your blood.

The base has a lifting capacity of 220 lbs and allows plenty of space for your feet, with an anti-skid pad. The height is adjustable from 27-1/2" to 48". Available in silver or black.
